Crusaders Drop Road Contest to Rochester, 70-57

December 6, 2006

Doug Creighton scored nine points on four-of-12 shooting from the floor in MU's 70-57 loss on Wednesday night at Rochester College.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- The Madonna men's basketball team struggled with a poor shooting performance combined with a tough pesky defensive effort by the host Warriors in a 70-57 loss on Wednesday night.

Rochester (7-3) led by eight points (34-26) at the half and increased their advantage to as much as 13 points in the second half before earning a split in the season series against Madonna (3-8).

The Crusaders shot just .328 (20-of-61) from the floor in the contest, including a season low .192 (5-of-26) from behind the three-point line.

Madonna's
DJ Bridges (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) led all scorers with 24 points and seven rebounds in the loss.  Senior forward Derrick Mudri (Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville HS) was the only other Crusader player to enter into double digits with 15 points against the Warriors.

Senior forward
Doug Creighton (Taipei, Taiwan/Detroit Catholic Central HS) added nine points and seven rebounds off the bench for Madonna.

The Crusaders will return home on Friday, Dec. 15, to host the Madonna University Classic, which includes Concordia, St. Francis and St. Xavier.  Madonna will match up with St. Xavier on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. (ET) and finish off the classic against St. Francis on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2:00 p.m. (ET)
