Madonna Drops Regular Season Finale to Concordia

Derrick Mudri grabbed a game high 11 rebounds Saturday at Concordia.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Madonna men's basketball team fell to fourth place in the final conference standings after falling to Concordia 84-70 Saturday afternoon.

Concordia's Anthony Bates scored a game high 41 points on 16-of-25 shooting from the field.  Bates also banked home a three-point shot just inside of half court as the buzzer sounded for halftime.

Junior forward D.J. Bridges (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) led Madonna with 24 points in the loss.  Senior forward Derrick Mudri (Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville HS) added three points and a game high 11 rebounds for the Crusaders.

Concordia led 38-27 at the half and extended their lead to as much as 22 points in the second half before fighting off a late offensive charge by Madonna that saw the Crusaders get as close as 10 points.

With the win, Concordia clinches the number three seed in the upcoming conference tournament, while Madonna falls to fourth.  Both teams will host first round games.

Madonna, who is hosting a men's basketball playoff game for the the first time in school history, will welcome fifth-seeded Indiana Tech to the Activities Center Thursday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
