Mudri Scores 26 in Madonna's Loss at Cornerstone

Derrick Mudri became the seventh player in MU history to score 1,000 career points.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Madonna men's basketball team had a tough day at Cornerstone, falling to the host Golden Eagles 86-63 Saturday afternooon.

Senior forward
Derrick Mudri (Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville HS) posted game highs with 26 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.  Mudri also became the seventh player in Crusaders history to surpass the 1,000 career points mark.  He currently sits at 1,025 career points.

The Crusaders fell behind early to Cornerstone, trailing by 27 points (51-24) at halftime.  Cornerstone would lead by as much as 38 points in the contest before the Crusaders went on a 24-4 run in the second half, but the Golden Eagles' victory was never in doubt.

D.J. Bridges (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) was the only other Madonna player to register double digits with 11 points, including nine in the second half.  Charlie Henry (Canton, Mich./Agape Christian Academy) added seven points, all of which came in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Crusaders shot only 29-percent (20-for-68) from the floor and turned the ball over 19 times.

Madonna will return to action Monday, Feb. 12 in a 7:30 p.m. tip off against No. 19 Aquinas in the Activities Center.
