First Half Defense Leads to Road Win for Crusaders

Doug Creighton led MU with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 70-63 win at UM-Dearborn Wednesday night.

DEARBORN, Mich. - A strong defensive effort by the Madonna men's basketball team in the first half lead to a 70-63 win over Michigan-Dearborn Wednesday night.

Madonna held the Wolves to just 18 points in the first half of play on 27-percent (8-of-30) from the floor, which allowed the Crusaders to lead by 10 points at the break.

Senior forward Doug Creighton (Taipei, Taiwan/Detroit Catholic Central HS) led Madonna with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Junior forward D.J. Bridges (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) also posted a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards for MU.

Madonna shot 54-percent (15-of-28) in the second half and held on for the seven-point win.  Overall, the Crusaders shot 42-percent (27-of-64) from the floor, but just 28-percent (5-of-18) from beyond the arc in the win.

The Crusaders will travel to Grand Rapids on Saturday, Feb. 10 to play Cornerstone in Mol Arena at 3:00 p.m.
