Crusaders Fall Short to Cornerstone 88-76

Adam Kerfoot scored 11 points in MU's 88-76 to Cornerstone.

LIVONIA, MICornerstone used a 56-35 second half advantage to hand the Madonna men's basketball team their third straight loss in an 88-76 decision Wednesday night at the Activities Center.

The Golden Eagles trailed 41-32 at the half, but sparked their second half offense by shooting 62-percent from the field and scoring 56 points.

Andy Bronkema led the way for Cornerstone with 22 points and eight boards.

Madonna used the momentum of a 17-2 first half run to hold a nine-point halftime advantage before the Golden Eagles lit up the scoreboard.

Junior guard
Charlie Henry (Canton, Mich./Agape Christian Academy) paced Madonna with 19 points on seven-of-14 shooting, including five-of-nine shooting from beyond the arc.

Junior forward
D.J. Bridges (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) added 16 points and senior forward Mike Rashad (Inkster, Mich./Wayne Memorial HS) chipped in with 15 points.

Cornerstone shot 53-percent from the floor (29-for-55) and 72-percent from the charity stripe (28-for-39).  Madonna shot 44-percent overall from the field (27-of-62) and 81-percent from the free-throw line (13-of-16).

The Crusaders fall to 2-3 in league play and 6-15 overall while Cornerstone improves to 13-7 overall and 4-1 in the WHAC.

Madonna will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20th in a 7:30 p.m. tip at Siena Heights.
