Madonna Falls to Aquinas 75-60

 D.J. Bridges led MU with 16 points in a 75-60 loss at Aquinas.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – In a battle of undefeated conference leaders, the Madonna men’s basketball team came up short, 75-60 at Aquinas Wednesday night.  DJ Bridges (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) led Madonna with 17 in the loss while Jeff Wierzbicki had 21 for Aquinas. 

Turnovers hurt the Crusaders as Aquinas scored 20 points of 18 MU errors.  The Saints were also dominant in the paint, outscoring MU 36-16. 

Derrick Mudri (Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville HS) and Keith Hearns (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) joined Bridges in double figures with 15 and 11 points respectively.  Bridges also grabbed a team high six rebounds. 

For the game, Madonna shot 45-percent from the floor (21-of46) and 44-percent from beyond the arc (18-of-18). 

Aquinas held a 31-21 halftime lead and outscored the Crusaders 44-39 in the second stanza on their way to the win. 

With the loss, Madonna falls to 6-13 overall, 2-1 in WHAC play while Aquinas improves to 11-8 and 3-0 in conference. 

Madonna returns home for their next contest Saturday when they host UM-Dearborn in a 3:00 pm tip at the Activities Center in Livonia.
