Bridges Picked Top Player in Preseason

named preseason Player of the Year by WHAC Coaches Monday (Oct.
8) |
LIVONIA,
Mich.
- Madonna University senior forward D.J. Bridges (Canton, Mich./Canton) is the
WHAC coaches pick for preseason Player of the Year in a statement released by
the league today.
Bridges, a sport management
major, was the league's second leading scorer last season, averaging 19.8 points
per game. He received five of eight votes for top-player honors.
Bridges was also a unanimous selection to the ten-member preseason team.
League coaches tabbed MU for
a third place finish, just one vote behind Indiana Tech. It marks the
highest ever preseason placement for Madonna, who finished fourth last season,
their best final finish in school history.
The Crusaders added senior
transfer Jon Battle (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) and his league leading
20.4 point per game last season to their starting five. Battle was also
named to the preseason team.
Both Bridges and Battle were
first team All-WHAC selections last season.
Bridges, Battle and the rest of
the Crusaders will make their season debut Friday night (Oct. 12) when the face
the MU alums in the annual alumni game in the Activities Center at 7 pm.
