Kevin Henry (seated)
is joined by MU coach Chuck Henry as he signs
to play basketball at
Madonna.
LIVONIA,
Mich. - -
Head men’s basketball coach Chuck Henry announced the second
member of his 2008 recruiting class on Tuesday with the signing of
Kevin Henry to a letter of intent. Henry signed his letter on
the campus of St. Francis de Sales in Toledo.
“We are
very excited to sign a player of Kevin’s ability,” commented Henry following the
signing. “He is a very athletic player who can play either of the guard spots
and his height is a dimension that can only help us. Assistant coach Noel
Emenhiser played a huge roll in recruiting Kevin and having someone like
Noel on the staff will only help Kevin as he develops as a player.”
Henry
(Toledo, Ohio), who is no relation to the MU coach, has spent the last three
seasons on the varsity squad at St. Francis for coach Nick Lowe. As a senior, he
earned first team all-city honors, second team all-district accolades and was
selected to the All- Toledo Blade first team before being tabbed to the
honorable mention all-state team. Henry also led the Knights in scoring and
assists this season.
The 6-4
Henry – who is one of 14 children - joins Southgate Anderson product Jon
Jaciuk who signed with MU in April. The Crusaders return 11 players from
last season’s squad that set the school record for wins with 19.
