Bridges, Coker Named To All-America Squads
MU student-athletes honored for efforts on the hardwood and in classroom
D.J. Bridges was named as an all-American by the NAIA.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following the competition of the 2008 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II National Tournament, the organization announced its 2008 all-America squads and Madonna senior forward D.J. Bridges (Canton, Mich.) was selected to the honorable mention team while junior Drew Coker (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) was named to the NAIA/Daktronics All-American Scholar Athlete team.

Bridges, who was named to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) all-conference first team, was second on the Crusaders' squad with an 18.9 points per game average. He led MU with 6.9 rebounds per night. Bridges saved his best season for last, setting a new career high with 36 points in a late season game against Cornerstone.

Bridges ended his career in top five all-time at Madonna in scoring, rebounds and blocked shots.

Coker was tabbed to the academic team by posting a grade point average above a 3.50. He was also selected to the WHAC all-academic team and was MU's selection to the WHAC Champions of Character team.

The Crusaders wrapped up the best season in school history, posting 19 wins against just 13 losses, the first winning season in program history. MU also set a new benchmark for WHAC wins with 10.
