Bridges Repeats as First Team All-WHAC
Six Crusaders Honored by League Coaches
D.J. Bridges was one of six Crusaders
honored by the league Tuesday.

LIVONIA, Mich. - -In a vote of the eight Conference coaches, Madonna senior forward D.J. Bridges (Canton, Mich.) was selected as a repeat member to the All-WHAC first team in a statement released today.  Bridges is one of six Crusaders honored, joining second team selection Jon Battle (Cleveland, Ohio), third teamer Charlie Henry (Canton, Mich.) and All-Newcomer selection Cedric Sims (Canton, Mich.).

Bridges is currently fifth in the league in scoring averaging 16.5 points-per-game and collecting 6.8 rebounds per contest, good for ninth among WHAC players.

Battle, the league's second leading scorer at 18.3 points per game, is a repeat selection to the All-WHAC second team after earning the honor last season while at Indiana Tech.

Henry adds a second straight All-WHAC selection to his resume, currently 18th in the conference in scoring with 11.6 points per night and is second among WHAC players with 3.8 assister per-game.  The senior guard also possesses the fourth best assist-to-turnover ration in the league.

Junior guard Cedric Sims was named to the All-Newcomer team after averaging 13.5 points in the regular season, good for 13th in the league.  He also ranks second in the league in steals (1.7) and fourth in assists (3.2) among all WHAC players.

Madonna Head Coach Chuck Henry was also honored by his peers for the second straight season as the Coach of Character, awarded annually to a league coach who best exemplifies the NAIA's five core values of respect, responsibility, servant leadership, sportsmanship and integrity.  Joining Henry from MU was junior guard Drew Coker (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) as one of eight players named to the Champions of Character team.

Rounding out the awards for MU were Charlie Henry and Coker who both earned Academic All-Conference honors.  The awards are presented to juniors or seniors with a 3.25 cumulative grade point average or higher.  Henry is majoring in Journalism/Public Relations while Coker is a Dietetics major.

The Crusaders are back in action tomorrow night (Feb. 27) when the host the opening round of the 2008 WHAC Championships in the Activities Center.  The #3-seed Crusaders face #6-seed Siena Heights in a 7:30 pm tip-off.  All fans in attendance are encouraged to wear blue for the game.
