Jon Battle was named WHAC Player of the Week for the fourth time this season on Monday.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - - It was announced by the conference office on Monday that Madonna senior guard Jon Battle (Cleveland, Ohio) has been selected as the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 17.

Battle, who ranks second in the WHAC with an 18.25 points per game average, helped the Crusaders to a perfect 2-0 week with a road win over Siena Heights Wednesday night and a come-from-behind win over Concordia at home on Saturday.

Against the Saints in the week's first game, Battle scored 17 points - 12 in the second half - and grabbed eight rebounds in MU's 77-67 win.

In Saturday's matinee against the Cardinals, the senior from the Buckeye state poured in 30 points, a career best while wearing the royal blue and gold. He also collected a game high 14 rebounds while knocking down 14 of the 17 free throws he attempted.

For the week, Battle averaged 23.5 points and 11 rebounds in Madonna's history making week. Wednesday's win over SHU locked up the first winning season in program history for the Crusaders, while Saturday's triumph gave the Crusaders their ninth WHAC win of the season - a new school record.

Battle and the rest of the Crusaders close out the regular season on Wednesday night as part of a women's and men's basketball double header against Davenport inside the Activities Center on the MU campus. The women get the night started with a 5:30 pm tip off with DU while the men close the night against the Panthers in a 7:30 pm tip. Both games can be heard on the Crusader Radio Network with "The Voice of Crusader Nation" William O'Sullivan on the play-by-play call.
