2005 Madonna Men's Golf Coaching Staff Head Coach Bill Durham
Hometown:
Livonia, MI Bill Durham is in his third year at the helm of the Madonna University men’s golf program. During his first two years in Livonia, Durham has positioned Madonna as a consistent challenger for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference title and has led the Crusaders from the ground up. Durham became the Crusaders’ golf coach in August, 2002 when he was pegged to begin the golf program from scratch after its addition as Madonna's ninth varsity sport. On the course, Durham’s laid-back demeanor translates into his coaching style, which involves being there to lend advice while letting his athletes play, and not trying to push a style or philosophy on them. On the recruiting trail, however, it is all about hard work. Durham scours the area looking for players who he believes are focused on success, both academically and athletically. Durham's hard work has paid off in a short time for the Madonna program, leading the team to a fifth place conference finish in their first year (2003). In 2004, Durham's men's team improved to a third place WHAC finish after leading the conference for a large portion of the season. In addition he saw senior Justin Goyt take home WHAC medalist honors, becoming the first Crusader to earn the individual championship. Durham's
influence has started to spread to the professional ranks. Jason Rammler,
current Madonna assistant coach and member of the first recruiting class, has
passed his Player Ability Test which qualifies him to work toward being a PGA
Member. A native of Livonia, Michigan, Durham was a local high school golf standout and went on to a successful stint on the men's team at Oakland University. Durham currently serves as the Operations Manger for the City of Livonia Golf Division (TJW Inc.).
