Golf Seventh After Day One At Collins Classic
The Crusader men's golf team
shot a round of 306 to open the Lou Collins
Classic hosted by Olivet College at Bedford Valley
Golf Club on Friday. Steve South led MU with a
75 and sits in 17th place. MU wraps up play with
an 8am shotgun start on Saturday.

Golf Comes Up Just Short At USF Invite
The Crusader men's golf team
held a one stroke lead coming into day two of
the USF Invite but could not hold off the
charging host Cougars and fell by two strokes.
Junior Brett Quitiquit led MU with a

Second
The Madonna men's golf team
swung into action Sunday at the USF Invite in
Kendallville, Ind., and sits in first place
after day one of the event with a team score of
317 to hold a one stroke lead. Junior Steve
South (pictured) and sophomore Austin
Stillman led MU with cards of 75 and sit
tied for second individually. The Crusaders wrap
up play with 18 more holes tomorrow.

Head men’s golf coach Steve Mato
announced today that Kyle Lawrey
(Flushing, Mich.) has signed a letter of
intent to continue his athletic and academic
careers at Madonna University starting this
fall after spending two seasons at Mott

2008
Men's Golf Fall Schedule Released
The 2008 men's golf fall schedule was released
today with the seven WHAC jamborees
highlighting the slate. The Royal and Gold get
an early start on the season, opening up Aug. 24
and 25 at the St. Francis Fall Invite in
Kendallville, Ind. MU will host its
conference event on Saturday, September 27, at
Fellows Creek Golf Course in Canton.

Golf Adds All-Stater Sears To Lineup
Head men’s golf coach Steve Mato
announced the latest addition to his 2008
recruiting class as Flint Powers Catholic
product Nick Sears has signed a letter of
intent to continue his academic and athletic
careers at Madonna University starting this
fall. Sears plans to major in psychology at MU.

Adds Another Cheesman To Roster For 2008
Head men’s golf coach Steve Mato
announced the first student-athlete in his 2008
recruiting class with the signing of Joel
Cheesman to a letter of intent. Cheesman,
the younger brother of Crusader senior Aaron
Cheesman, will continue his academic and
athletic careers at MU starting this fall and
plans to major in history.

Oscar Named Scholar Athlete By NAIA
It was announced by the NAIA national office
that Madonna junior golfer Elliot Oscar has been
selected to the 2008 Daktronics All-American
Scholar Athlete Team. To be selected, a
student-athlete must have a cumulative grade
point average of at least 3.5 and be a junior or
senior.

The Madonna men's golf team shot
a two-round total of 656 at the NAIA Region VIII
championship in Peru, Ind. The Crusaders missed
making the day two cut by nine shots, ending

golf team at the final day of the Rumble at the
Rock II, a preview of the 2008 NAIA Region VIII
golf tournament. As a team the Crusaders shot a
303, their bet score of the spring season. |

The Madonna men's golf team
sits in seventh after round one at the Rumble at
the Rock II at the Rock Hollow Golf Club in
Peru, Ind. The event, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan
serves as a preview for the NAIA Region VIII
championship next week on the same course.

Steve South (pictured) carded a two round
total of 150 (74, 76) to lead the Madonna men to
a third place finish at the Spring Arbor Spring
Invite at Arbor Hills Golf Club in Jackson. The
Crusaders are back in action this Friday and
Saturday as part of the Rumble at The Rock II

Aaron Cheesman stayed in the
top-10, firing an 82 on day two at the USF
Invite to place ninth. The Madonna men's
linksters finished the tournament in seventh as
conditions turned for the worse on Saturday as
wind and rain caused a jump in scores across the
board.

Records First Ace in MU Golf History
Jono McMahon made golf history Sunday, becoming
the first Madonna golfer to record a hole-in-one
when he sank his tee shot on the 171-yard
par-three seventh.
McMahon went on to win the Bay Point
Invitational with a three-under-par 63.
