ADA, Mich. -- History was made Wednesday
afternoon for the MU women's golf program as freshman
Caitlin Steele
(Dearborn,
MI/Divine Child) carded a 16-over-par 88 to win the Wolverine-Hoosier
Athletic Conference (WHAC) Jamboree hosted by Cornerstone University on
Wednesday (Sept. 19) at Quail Ridge Golf Course.
As a team, Madonna placed fourth with a combined total of 404
(+116), finishing eight strokes ahead of the host Golden Eagles and 99 strokes
better than Indiana Tech.
Freshman
Mariel Meyers
(Westland,
MI/Livonia Franklin) gave the Crusaders
two players among the top 10, tying for 8th with a twenty-three-over 95.
Freshman
Jillian Kloc
(Belleville, MI/Belleville)
finished 22nd with a 107 while
Danielle Elswick
(Westland, MI/Wayne
Memorial) and
Alison Sanborn
(Livonia, MI/Livonia Franklin) finished 23rd and 25th respectively.
The Crusaders will waste no time getting back
to the course as they head to Adrian, Michigan, to play in the third conference
event of the year, Saturday (Sept. 22). The 18-hole tournament will be played at
the
Tecumseh Country Club.
