Head women’s golf coach Scott Marzolino announced today that Chelsea
Bathurst (Livonia, Mich.) has signed a letter of intent to continue
her athletic and academic careers at Madonna University starting this fall.
“Chelsea will
come in and help our squad right away,” commented Marzolino. “She was an
outstanding player in high school and we expect that to continue here at
Madonna. She is a great addition to our program.”
Bathurst – who
plans to major in criminal justice at MU – comes from nearby Stevenson High
School in Livonia and was a four-year letter winner for coach Jason Delo.
Bathurst was named all-division as a freshman and captured the WLAA Conference
title as a sophomore. As a junior and senior she was tabbed all-conference and
her team’s most valuable player in addition to an all-state nod as a junior.
Bathurst was the Spartans’ leading performer at the 2007 MHSAA state finals,
shooting rounds of 90 and 94.
The Crusaders
finished the 2007-08 campaign ranked fourth the NAIA’s Region VIII poll and
return three letter winners from last year’s club.
