signed a letter of intent to play golf at MU starting this Fall. |
LIVONIA,
Mich. - -
Madonna
University head women’s golf coach Scott Marzolino announced
today that Troy Athens product Jackie McCormick has signed a
letter of intent to join the Crusaders and continue her academic and
athletic careers at MU starting this fall.
“Jackie
is a great addition to our program,” said Marzolino following the signing. “To
add her skill into our returning players as well as the other new players in the
program, our staff feels that we will be in the hunt for the WHAC title and the
conference’s automatic bid to the national tournament.”
McCormick (Troy, Mich.), who plans to study psychology at Madonna, was a
four-year letter winner for the Redhawks and coach Hans Peterson at Troy Athens.
She was a three-time all-league selection in addition to being name Hawk of the
Year three times, including this season. As a junior McCormick was tabbed to the
honorable mention all-state team after averaging 84.3 strokes per round. She
also helped the Redhawks to a trio of state finals appearances during her prep
career.
The
Crusaders lose just two letter winners from this year’s squad and return three
golfers who appeared in the regular line-up.
