Lawrey Signs With MU Golf For 2008-09

Kyle Lawrey has signed a letter of intent to
play golf at MU starting this Fall..

LIVONIA, Mich. - - Head men’s golf coach Steve Mato announced the latest addition to his 2008 recruiting class as Mott Community College product Kyle Lawrey has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Madonna University starting this fall. Lawrey plans to major in business administration at MU. 

“Kyle brings experience to our roster after two years at Mott," said Mato. "He has proven he can play on the collegiate level and will help us in our quest to capture the WHAC and advance to the National Tournament."

Lawrey (Flushing, Mich.) is coming off of his second straight all-MCCAA conference selection for the Bears at Mott. He posted a 77.6 career average in two seasons and helped his team to a 15th place finish at nationals as a freshman in 2007 and to a fifth place finish this spring after winning the Michigan Community College Athletic Association championship. Lawrey's stroke average of 77.9 this season placed him 14th in the MCCAA. He was also a Dean's List selection sporting a 3.67 GPA.

A 2005 graduate of Flushing HS, Lawrey was a two-year letter winner at FHS. A two-time all-Big 9 conference selection, he was the conference tournament runner-up as a senior, carding back-to-back rounds of 73.

Lawrey is the third student-athlete to sign with the Crusaders, joining Joel Cheesman and Nick Sears.
