LOUISVILLE,
Ky.
– The Madonna men's golf
team opened its 2008 spring season by taking part in the Bellarmine
Intercollegiate contested at Persimmon Ridge GC in Louisville, Ky.
Jono McMahon (Windsor, Ont.) and
Austin Stillman (Livonia, Mich.) each shot a 79 for the day to pace the
Crusaders.
"I thought we would have played a
little better," said head coach Steve Mato. "But given the conditions I thought
we played well. This is one of the top courses in all of Kentucky and is a
challenge. But even with that, we are still in it and can shoot a low number
tomorrow."
Senior Aaron Cheesman (Canton,
Mich.) and junior Elliot Oscar (Reedsburg, Wisc.) each shot an 81 while Steve
South (LIvonia, Mich.) and Matt Talbot (Plymouth, Mich.) shot 83 and 89
respectively.
The Crusaders wrap up their
southern swing with day two of the even tomorrow.
