McMahon Named All-Conference as Crusaders Finish Second Overall

Jono McMahon earned All-WHAC honors for Madonna after recording a 76.7 scoring average this fall.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Junior Jono McMahon (Windsor, ON/Massey HS) led Madonna to a fourth place finish at the final WHAC Jamboree of the fall season at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club in Grand Rapids on Thursday.

McMahon fired a 76 en route to a third place individual tournament finish and an All-WHAC selection.  McMahon finished the fall conference season with a 76.7 scoring average, which placed him sixth overall in the final individual standings.

As a team, the Crusaders finished second overall following the six-event fall season, including a first place finish during WHAC Jamboree #5 at Fellows Creek Golf Club on September 23 in Canton.

Junior
Aaron Cheesman (Canton, MI/Salem HS) and freshman Steve South (Westland, MI/Livonia Franklin HS) were named Honorable Mention All-WHAC after recording scoring averages of 77.5 and 78.7 respectively in league play.

South finished tied for sixth in today's event after carding a 79, while Cheesman shot an 83.  Freshman
Justin Taurence (Wyandotte, MI/Roosevelt HS) also shot an 83 for the Crusaders, including a 41 on the front nine holes.

Senior
Steve Robinson (Livonia, MI/Churchill HS) and freshman Tom Voyer (Ortonville, MI/Brandon HS) rounded out the MU scoring on the day, posting scores of 86 and 87 respectively.

The Crusaders will have little time to celebrate their second-place conference finish before turning around and competing on Friday at the the Motor City Invitational at Pheasant Run Golf Club in Canton.
