Just three days after beating out
Spring Arbor for the Aquinas Spring Invitational team title, the Madonna men's
golf team finished third at the Spring Arbor Invitational.
Spring Arbor took home the team championship with a combined score of 623, seven
shots ahead of Cornerstone.
Madonna finished third overall with a combined total of 637, led by
Jono McMahon's
(Windsor, Ontario/Massey HS), who turned in a tournament best 72 in
the first 18 holes, but struggled over the final 18 holes after carding an 83.
McMahon finished with a total score of 155.
Steve South
(Westland, Mich./Livonia Franklin HS) turned in a 78 on the first
go-around and finished up the tournament with a total of 158 after shooting an
80 on the final 18 holes.
Aaron Cheesman
(Canton, Mich./Salem HS) scored a 160 overall after shooting an 80 on
both rounds during the day.
Tom Voyer
(Ortonville, Mich./Brandon HS)
rounded out the Crusaders efforts as the freshman shot an 87 on the first 18
holes, but rebounded with an 83 on the final round.
Voyer finished the day with a 171 overall.
The Crusaders will compete in the Malone College Invitational Friday and
Saturday in Canton, Ohio. The two-day event is scheduled to kick off at
11:00 a.m. ET Friday.
