Jono McMahon led the MU golfers in the first event of the spring season.

LAKE WALES, Fla. -- The Madonna men's golf team opened the spring season with a loss to Warner Southern (FL) in the Warner Southern Spring Break Classic that lasted two days.

The Crusaders lost the match by 26 strokes (610 - 636).

Madonna junior golfer Jono McMahon (Windsor, Ontario/Massey HS) led the Crusaders by shooting 151 over the two days, including a low of 75 on the second day.

Freshman Steve South (Livonia, Mich./Churchill HS) turned in a team best 72 on the second day and recorded a score of 152 overall.

Junior Aaron Cheesman (Canton, Mich./Salem HS) carded a 165 and sophomore Matt Robinson (Livonia, Mich./Churchill HS) turned in a 168.

Freshman Justin Taurence (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt HS) and senior golfer Steve Robinson (Livonia, Mich./Churchill HS) also competed in the dual meet, recording scores of 174 and 176, respectively.

The Crusaders will finish up their spring trip with a couple of days of practice rounds in the state of Florida before returning to Michigan at the end of the week.
