Seven
Madonna cross country runners competed at the 2006 Wolverine-Hoosier
Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Cass Benton Park in
Northville.
Aquinas captured the men's team title and Siena Heights finished in the
top spot for the women's team championship.
Sophomore
Joe Horka
(Westland, Mich./Churchill HS) paced the men's team for Madonna
with a 16th place finish at the 27:33.95 mark in the 8K event.
Junior
Keith Hearns
(Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) finished 29th for Madonna after
crossing the line at the 29:52.48 mark. Freshman
Charles Wolfe
(Canton, Mich./Canton HS) ran a 31:41.07 and finished in 33rd
place.
Freshman Bryant George (Detroit,
Mich./Northwestern HS) finished in 38th place after competing in his
first event this season.
On the women's side for Madonna, junior
Kirstian Tyler
(Livonia, Mich./Franklin HS) led the way with a 17th place
finish after crossing at the 20:55.20 mark in the 5K event.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Carbary
(Fenton, Mich./Fenton HS) finished at the 21:26.64 mark and
recorded a 21st place finish. Freshman
Amanda Weaver
(Livonia, Mich./Home School) rounded out the Crusaders' finishers
with a 33rd place finish at the 25:05.2 mark.
The Crusaders will finish up the fall season on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the
NAIA Region VIII Championships in Marion, Indiana.
