Madonna University cross country head coach
Patrick Daugherty has announced
the signing of Franklin High school senior
Kari Saarela for the 2007-08
season.
The Livonia, Michigan, native has earned three varsity letters in cross
country and four in track.
“Kari is a great addition for our team,” said Daugherty. “We are
excited for her to join our program next fall.”
Saarela was
named Most Improved on her squad last fall and earned WLAA
all-division, all-Wayne County honorable mention and Observer
third team all-area awards. She also posted a career best time at
20:39 during the season. Saarela also earned Top Newcomer honors
during her sophomore season.
Saarela, who is the daughter of Norman Saarela and Cheryl Saarela,
is planning on pursuing a degree in pre-pharmacy at Madonna
University beginning next fall.
