Westland native is first MU harrier to receive honor

LIVONIA, Mich.
-- Madonna University junior Joe Horka (Westland, Mich./Churchill HS)
became the first cross country student-athlete in the three-year history of the
program to earn NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete honors in a statement released
today.
Horka, a
criminal justice major at MU, adds the latest honor to All-WHAC and Academic
All-WHAC selections earlier this season.
The
junior was the top individual runner this season for MU, finishing 20th
at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference meet with a time
of 26:50.00 in the 8K event.
Horka
helped lead the MU men’s cross country team to a fifth place team finish.
