Rikco Rhoades went 2-4 with a pair of RBIs in MU's
8-2 win over Bemidji State Saturday.

MESA, Ariz. The MU baseball team reeled off its seventh win in a  row Saturday, defeating NCAA DII member Bemidji State University, 8-2 in Chandler, Arizona.

The Crusaders (10-4) got the scoring started with a two-run third inning as Rikco Rhoades led off with a single but was later thrown out on a fielder's choice off the bat of Zack McMillin.  McMillin scored the games first run on a RBI triple by Matt Kondziolka, who would score run number two on a fielding error by the Beaver's shortstop.

MU added to the lead with three runs each in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 8-1 advantage.  Rhoades provided the big blast in the sixth, a two-run triple while Dave Herrick's RBI single and Kevin Zerbo's RBI triple were the keys to the seventh inning tally.

That proved more than enough run support for MU starter Richard Lindquist who scattered four hits and fanned a career high eight Beavers in seven innings of work to earn his first win of the season.

Lindquist was assisted out of the bullpen by Richard Hammer who recorded his first strikeout as a Crusader, one of three he posted in the final two innings of relief work.

Freshman Shawn Little also recorded another Crusader first on the day, with his first collegiate base-hit, a double in the eighth inning as a pinch-hitter.

The victory extended MU's season best winning streak to seven games and Zerbo extended his career best hitting streak to 11 games.

The Crusaders are back in action Sunday, when they face Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in their final spring trip game.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm (ET).
