BOX SCORE

Ryan Morrow went 2-3 with two runs scored in MU's sixth straight baseball victory Friday.

MESA, Ariz. The MU baseball team ran its win streak to six games with a 7-3 victory over Mayville State University in Mesa, Arizona, Friday afternoon.

The Crusaders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Pat Kenny doubled and scored on a fielding error off the bat of Mike Cauzillo.

MU added two more runs in the third when Kenny drew a bases loaded walk and Dave Herrick scored on a passed ball.

The MU bats added to the cause in the fifth when Kevin Zerbo singled home Levi Cheshire, extending his career best hit streak to 10 games.  Zerbo would later score on a throwing error by Mayville State catcher Mike McNally to push the lead to 5-0.

That would prove to be enough for starting pitcher Jeff Sonnenberg
(1-1) who scattered three hits while striking out nine with just two runs allowed to pick up his first win as a Crusader.

MU added a run apiece in the sixth and eighth innings to counter the three runs scored by MSU in their half of the seventh for the 7-3 win.

John McCracken came on to work the final three innings to pick up his third save.  He struck out two and allowed three hits in the process.

The Crusaders are back in action Saturday, when they face Bemidji State University in a 5:00 pm (ET) start.
