BATTLE CREEK, Mich.
The Madonna baseball team hammered three home runs in an 8-3 elimination game win over fourth-seeded Bethel Thursday in Battle Creek at the NAIA Region VIII baseball tournament.

Seniors Tony Luttman and Gary VanAllen were joined by freshman Zach Flavin in the home run column in the victory.

Luttman led the Crusaders at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance, including a two-run homer.

VanAllen went 1-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run.  Flavin had two hits and two RBIs against the Pilots.

Madonna starting pitcher Josh Regits went the distance in the nine-inning contest, while scattering five hits and striking out seven for the win.

The Crusaders move on to play the loser of the Indiana Tech/Spring Arbor contest at 5:00 p.m. tonight at Nichols Field in Battle Creek.
