LOUISVILLE, Ky. Kyle Fedorka (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) experienced the high and low of baseball all in one inning as Madonna fell to host Spalding University (Ky.) 6-5 Friday night.

Fedorka delivered an RBI double in the top of the ninth to tie the game at five, but committed a crucial error in the bottom of the inning allowing the winning run to score for the host Golden Eagles.

A solo home run in the bottom of the seventh propelled the Spalding Golden Eagles to a 5-4 victory over visiting Madonna (8-6) in Louisville Friday night.

Senior right-hander Mike Hand (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington HS) took the loss in relief after Josh Regits (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion HS) worked the first seven innings on the hill for MU.

Regits allowed just three hits in seven innings of work along with five runs, three of which were earned, and four strikeouts and three walks while receiving a no decision.

Hand (0-1) pitched one-and-two-thirds innings and allowed one hit and one run after striking out one batter and hitting two.

Spalding reliever Brad Blackburn (1-0) earned the win after pitching just one-third of an inning and striking out the only batter he faced.

Ryan Morrow (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy HS) and Dave Herrick (Westland, Mich./Livonia Churchill HS) each paced MU at the plate with a pair of hits in the loss.

The Crusaders are back in action tomorrow when they face Spalding in games two and three of the four-game series.

First pitch for the double-header at Derby City Field in Louisville is at 12:00 pm (ET)
