Crusader Bats Go Cold in Double-Header Split
Ignasiak drives in three in game one win

Bay Minette, Ala. – The Madonna baseball team moved to 7-5 on the season with a double-header split versus Judson (Ill.) in Bay Minette, Alabama Friday afternoon.

The Crusaders defeated the Eagles 9-5 in the opener as starting catcher Garrett Ignasiak went 2-for-3 with three RBI's.

Manny Alvarado remained red-hot at the plate driving in a pair of runs and raising his average to .424.  Scott Boyer also delivered a pinch-hit two-run double in the win.

Madonna scored three times in the opening inning and four times in the seventh on the way to their seventh win of the season.

Starting pitcher Ryan Bardoni picked up the win on the mount, moving to 1-0 on the year.  Bardoni scattered six hits over six-and-two-thirds innings, fanning seven and allowing five earned runs.

Mike Jacques came on to record the final out, picking up his first save of the season.

In the nightcap, the Madonna bats could do nothing against Judson starter Kyle Neubauer.  The righty went the distance, allowing just four hits and no runs in the 3-0 Judson win.

Dave Herrick had two of MU's four base hits.  He was 2-for-3 in the game and raised his average to a team-leading .429.

Carl McDevitt took the loss, moving to 0-2 on the year.  McDevitt allowed two earned runs in five-and-one-third innings.

Mike Orehek came on to hurl the final inning-and-two-thirds, striking out three and allowing one run.

With the split, Madonna moves to 7-5 on the season, Judson is now 4-6. 

The Crusaders will finish off their Florida spring trip tomorrow morning (March. 10) when the face Fisher College (Mass.) in a single nine-inning game beginning at 10:00 am (ET) at Pensacola Catholic High School.
