Women's Golf Adds A Goose
Divine Child Standout Becomes Second Signee

February 16, 2007

Caitlin "Goose" Steele

LIVONIA, Mich. -- Madonna University head women’s golf coach Scott Marzolino announced the signing of Caitlin "Goose" Steele (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child HS) to a letter of intent for the 2007-08 season

Steele is a senior at Divine Child High School where she is a four-year varsity letter winner

Marzolino was part of Steele's signing day at Divine Child where more than 30 friends, family members, teammates and high school administrators were on hand Tuesday.

By all accounts, from what I have heard said today and in my short time getting to know Caitlin and her family, she is as good a person as she is a golfer," said Marzolino. She is a great student, great golfer and more importantly she is a person of great character and I look forward to our next four years together."

The daughter of Dan and Mary Lou Steele, Caitlin is a four year honor roll member and also plays basketball for the Falcon's under former Madonna standout and current Divine Child coach Mary Murray.

Steele, who is a three-time All-City perfomer on the course heading into her senior spring season is excited about attending MU next fall and playing golf at the collegiate level.

“When I visited Madonna I felt very comfortable,” said Steele.  “I came to the open house and everyone was very nice and welcoming. I really enjoyed the small school atmosphere and once I talked to coach Marzolino I was hooked.

"Goose can come in and be an immediate contributor for us," said Marzolino.  "She has the skills to compete to be our number one golfer right out of the chute."

Steele heads into her senior season looking for her fourth straight All-City and All-Catholic honors.  Last season, she added a MHSAA State Tournament qualification to her resume.

The Madonna women’s golf team is currently preparing for the spring 2007 season after earning five straight top 10 finishes to close out the fall 2006 season under Marzolino.
