LIVONIA,
Mich. --
Madonna University head women’s golf coach
Scott Marzolino announced the signing of
Jillian Kloc (Belleville, Mich.)
for the first commitment of the 2007-08 freshman class.
Kloc is a senior at
Belleville High School and is currently preparing for her second season
of golf at the varsity level.
“Jillian is the
perfect combination of a student-athlete that excels in academics and
athletics,” said Marzolino. “She has an excellent attitude and will
bring excitement to the Madonna women’s golf program next fall.”
The former softball standout at Belleville HS switched to golf before
her junior season only to place ninth at the Mega Red Conference
Tournament in her first year at the varsity level. Kloc averages 91
over 18 holes and has a career best of 41 over nine holes.
“Jillian is a very strong player off the tee,” said Marzolino. “She has
a great willingness to learn and improve which will help her succeed in
the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.”
Kloc, who is the daughter of John and Pamela Kloc, has already been
accepted to the Madonna University School of Nursing and is excited
about attending the Livonia campus next fall and playing golf at the
collegiate level.
“When I visited Madonna I felt very comfortable,” said Kloc. “Everyone
on campus was very friendly and it was very welcoming atmosphere. I
also really like the small class size and the personal attention I will
be able to receive from each of my professors.”
Kloc is the President of the National Honors Society at Belleville High
School and is also a member of the Student Council. She has received
the Daughter of American Revolution award, the Rotary Youth Leadership
award and was named an Outstanding Leader of Belleville High School.
The Madonna women’s golf team is currently preparing for the spring 2007
season after earning five straight top 10 finishes to close out the fall
2006 season under Marzolino.
