In his sixth year at Madonna, and
second as Assistant Athletic Director - Media Relations and Promotions, Matt
Fancett coordinates all media relations for the athletic
department’s 11 varsity sports. During his four year tenure as
Sports Information Director, Fancett provided the publicity for
six National Tournament qualifying teams, two ‘Final Four’
squads, 17 conference championship teams, nine conference
tournament championship teams and over 75 All-Americans.
Additionally, Fancett has won 15 national awards for
publications and writing, including the ‘Best Website in the
Nation’ award in 2005 for the Madonna Athletics website.
Fancett’s 2004-05 men’s and women’s basketball guide was judged
‘Best in the Nation’ and his 2006 baseball guide garnered
‘Best Cover’ honors.
Fancett also serves as Media Relations director for the
eight-member Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and 17-member
NAIA Region VIII where his duties include the dissemination of
information for all conference/regional schools and the
oversight of whac.net and the NAIA Region VIII website.
A graduate of Eastern Michigan University in 2000 with a degree
public relations and communications, Fancett, 30, spent one year
at Concordia University and four years as a student SID at his
alma mater before joining the Madonna staff.
Fancett and his wife Elizabeth (Regner), reside in Ypsilanti
with their three children, Connor (8), Madeline (6) and Nina
(2).
